Department Profile
The purpose of our major is to deepen knowledge and understanding of one of the most powerful forces operating on people, communities and corporations today, namely government and politics in around the world. This knowledge and understanding are valuable for all citizens. It is also essential in many careers today. Political Science is a discipline that uses different approaches, our courses train in a number of different critical skills that will help to succeed in almost any career. Most of our courses have assignments that develop skills in writing. Almost all good jobs require writing skills. Our political theory courses train in analytical thinking, an essential skill for almost all attractive careers.
VISION
The political science department is committed to setting a standard of excellence in the undergraduate study of political Science. Students gain comprehensive knowledge of Indian and global governance and politics through coursework in Indian Politics, Political Theory, Comparative Politics. We prepare students to be well-informed citizens and to make meaningful contributions to Local, State, National and International communities.
MISSION
The political science department seeks to provide students with a learning experience that will equip them to face the challenges of an increasingly complex job market and prepare them to become active and engaged citizen at the Local, National and International level.
OBJECTIVES
1.Discuss the most important political theorists in the Indian and western tradition and the ideas associated with them.
2.Describe basic political and governmental structures, processes, and policies in the India and in several other western and non-western countries.
3.Describe the history, structure and operation of the international system.
4.Describe the role and impact of the India in the international system.
5.Identify the principal arguments for and against alternative forms of government
